The debut Country album from the 8th season finalist of American Idol featuring the single "My Best Days are Ahead of Me". During his bid for the Idol title, Gokey impressed the judges with his vocal versatility, but it was his buoyant personality and perseverance in the face of adversity that earned Gokey a special place in the hearts of Idol devotees.
Album Description
2010 debut from the former American Idol contestant, who placed third in season eight on the popular TV competition. Gokey's life before American Idol embodies the themes that populate the Country music lexicon, from his humble roots in a poor but loving family to his hard-working days as a truck driver to the loss of his wife. Gokey entered the studio determined to craft a debut album filled with songs that mattered. ''I definitely have something to say with this album and I think people will recognize that,'' he says. ''Music was the catalyst that helped bring healing, a determination and a resolve. When my wife passed, I tried out for American Idol and music brought me hope. It brought me a reason to live again. Now I want to bring that into my music.''

I got this as a birthday present and it is a great CD! The music is fun and melodic, not the "twangy" kind of country, a lot more like Collin Raye than traditional country music. The songs tell interesting stories too. I always look forward to hearing it again. I will be watching Danny's career.

I haven't heard the CD myself because I bought it for a family member for her birthday, but she loves it so I'm giving it five stars. He was marvelous on American Idol.
